Japan Privacy Policy Addendum
Effective May 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy Addendum for users in Japan (the “Addendum”) should be read in conjunction with Thrivania's Privacy Policy, which applies when you use our services.
Members and Visitors whose data is protected by Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) are provided with additional rights and protections as described below.
Cross-Border Data Transfers
As noted in our Privacy Policy, we process data both inside and outside of the United States and rely on legally-provided mechanisms to lawfully transfer data across borders. Thrivania's data centers, which store our members' information, are currently located in the United States.
Members and Visitors whose data is protected by Japan's APPI should be aware that data transferred to the United States may not be subject to the same level of data protection as required under Japanese law. We apply appropriate safeguards, including contractual protections, to ensure your data is handled securely regardless of where it is processed.
Your Rights Under APPI
Under the APPI, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Disclosure
Request disclosure of retained personal data that Thrivania holds about you.
Correction
Request correction, addition, or deletion of your personal information if it is inaccurate.
Cessation of Use
Request cessation of use or deletion of your personal information if it was obtained improperly or is no longer necessary.
Cessation of Provision
Request that we stop providing your personal information to third parties.
How to Exercise Your Rights
You can exercise your rights in the following ways:
- • Account settings: Access, correct, and manage your data through your account settings
- • Data export: Download your personal data from the Account Management section of your settings
- • Disclosure request: Submit a formal disclosure request through our contact form
